Best Buddies

In 2009 John Hancock began a partnership with Best Buddies. Since then, hundreds of employees have participated in the Best Buddies Challenge Hyannis Port. This five-star charity event takes place along Massachusetts’ South Shore to Cape Cod. Participants can choose from a 20, 50, or 100 mile bike ride or a 5k run. To date, John Hancock has raised nearly one million dollars for this mission. Additionally, John Hancock is a proud partner in the Best Buddies Jobs program, a program dedicated to securing jobs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2015 John Hancock was honored with the Employer of the Year Award, given to a company for its work in making employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities a reality.

Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
